Foundation letter from leadership - Right from the Start and Research Creates the Best Medicine

Right from the Start: Mount Sinai Hospital’s Campaign for Women’s and Infants’ Health has met with strong support from our donors. Early in the year, we were delighted to receive a generous gift from Bob Rubinoff, a long-time Board member, who donated $1.5 million to name three triplet suites in the Valentine Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Joining in Rubinoff’s leadership role were Ed and Fran Sonshine, who demonstrated their approval of our revitalization plans with a gift of $1 million to Right from the Start.

Our Research Creates the Best Medicine campaign continued to promote the establishment of chairs aligned to specific Lunenfeld researchers. Camille Dan created the Camille Dan Family Research Chair in Translational Cell Biology, supporting Dr. Robert Casper, whose work focuses on umbilical cord stem cells, endometriosis, embryo fragmentation related to in vitro fertilization and the effects of light on night shift workers. We recognized the establishment of the Angelo and Alfredo De Gasperis Families Chair in Colorectal Cancer and IBD Research, held by Dr. Robin McLeod, a Senior Investigator at the Lunenfeld, a researcher at the Dr. Zane Cohen Digestive Diseases Clinical Research Centre and a colorectal surgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital.
