• Two recent University of Toronto residents have been recruited to the Department to start in the summer of 2009.
  • New equipment purchases include three anaesthesia machines which have arrived and a fiberoptic bronchoscope ordered via a capital budget request.
  • Dr. Eric You-Ten has been named liaison with the Clinical Fellows.
  • Dr. Joshua Rucker was made Chair of the Department’s Quality Improvement Committee replacing Dr. James Teresi.
  • Dr. Sharon Davies and Dr. Eric You-Ten received Merit awards from the University of Toronto. Drs. Mrinalini Balki, Eric You-Ten and Naveed Siddiqui successfully obtained two-year funding from the AFP Innovation Funds.
  • Twelve Clinical Fellows were in the Department, seven of which designated Obstetric Fellows for training in tertiary care obstetrics to and clinical research.
  • The Anesthesia Care Team is now ongoing with six individuals in various stages of training.
  • The Obstetric Conference, held in October 2008, was successful. The Obstetric Anaesthesia group had nine papers at the recent Society of Anaesthetist, Obstetricians and Perinatalogists meeting.
  • Dr. Chidambaram Ananthanarayan retired.
  • Dr. Gordon Urbach retired.
